The photos always look great. What the photos won't tell you is whether a house suits your particular group — and that's the thing that makes or breaks a weekend. Here's how we help guests choose.
Count the bedrooms, then the bathrooms
Occupancy numbers are a starting point, not an answer. Two families with kids want bedrooms with attached baths and a lawn to burn off energy. Six friends can happily share, but they'll want a pool that's actually big enough to be in together and a kitchen that opens to the party.
Ask about the things photos hide
Is the pool fenced? Is there real shade by afternoon? How far is the nearest beach, and does that walk work at night? Is the cook's menu fixed or flexible? A good host answers all of this before you ask. If the answers are vague, keep looking.
